The National Land Afforestation Promotion Organization

The National Land Afforestation Promotion Organization laid its foundation in January 1950 as the National Greening Promotion Committee, comprised of people from a board range of fields and sectors and intended to promote the national land afforestation campaign as a public movement. It was incorporated in September 1967, and March of 1988 adopted its current name. At the same time, it also set up the National Fund for Forest Greenery and Waters.

The Speaker of Japan's House of Representatives and the President of the House of Councilors serve as President and Chief Advisor, respectively. The Executive Director is Mr.Shosaburo Kimura. As of March 1, 1988, membership included 116 regular member organizations, including 47 perfectural afforestation promotion committees, and 39 supporting member organizations.
